Thank you for watching “The Dark Knight” with us!
I’ve been too busy to post anything this past while, but I’ll take some time for this.
On behalf of my SO and our friend, we would like to thank all of you who graced us with your pressence in last night’s “The Dark Knight” Private Screening to celebrate our respective birthdays.
We hope you all had a good time. ![]()
Vacation ToDo List 2008.05/19
I had several things in mind when I was planning on my day off. Now that my day off is over, I thought I’d recap what I managed (+) or didn’t manage (-) to do.
+ Wake-up late
- Eat some form of breakfast (particularly the Cheerios I got over the weekend)
+ Replace the toilet tissue roll holders with new tissue roll holders embedded with air fresheners (ain’t it cool?)
+ check the news (which is kinda cheating ‘coz I do it every day anyway)
+ pick a topic and check news on that (robots)
- Practice using the multi-tester.
+ Play Warcraft III
++ Win some games at Warcraft III
— Win more games in Warcraft III than lose (I think I got 1 loss net)
+ Write a post for the day.
++ Write a post that wasn’t news
— Write an opinion or review post
- Backup stuff in my computer
+ Play with Hanachi-e
+ Do some website maintenance.
++ Fix no-www support.
Yes, I switched to no-www, as opposed to my last post regarding the matter. Around two weeks ago, my host had to do some changes that automatically set me up for no-www. Given that, I’ve been constantly working on migration to no-www since then. Today, apparently they made modifications that returned thing to the way they were before. Unfortunately, I never was able to perfect either yes-www or no-www before, so it took me a while. After some trials, and some help, I managed to find hot to do no-www correctly (and basically how to reverse this easily as well).
- Watch some pending DVDs
- Read Necronomicon
+ Read A Game of Thrones
~ Eat somewhere different (I just ate at Cafe Mediterranean, not the norm, but not very unusual either)
- Clean some stuff up around the house
~ Sleep in the afternoon (I napped, but I can’t say I slept)
+ Have dinner with my SO
+ Watch the show/s of the day (in this case, it was AoTS)
+ Reflect on my life so far. This activity ended up making me feel thankful, happy, melancholic and afraid. Happy and thankful for everything I’ve gotten in my life so far. Melancholic because I know that I have to bite the bullet and accept that I can’t live forever. Afraid because I know that the end will come sooner or later, and you never really know which it will be.
+ Write about what I did for the day
[sigh] A day off goes by so quickly.
Tags: WarcraftA ‘net-less Labor Day Holiday
It was a holiday yesterday, and it started out well enough, that is until I heard ticking sounds and my internet connection stopped all data transactions. The modem’s indicators implied that it couldn’t connect to the server. It happens on occasion, so I didn’t make much of it. I decided to wait for an hour or so.
After watching “Attack of the Show” and “X-Play” replays, there was still no status change. So, I tried the typical reconnect/reboot cycle. That failing, I tried the secondary checks, network cables, power cables, phone lines… wait! I got no dial-tone! The phone line was dead!
Wonderful.
Thankfully, I had a backup plan. I’d plug-in my Sony Ericsson K608i and use it as a GSM modem so I can at least surf while waiting for the phone line to be fixed. I had a copy of the PC Suite on a USB for situations like this and ran the installer.
“FAILED TO LOAD RESOURCE”
WTF?!!
Even stranger, after this dialog displayed, another “FAILED TO LOAD RESOURCE” dialog showed with a slowly moving progress bad, and a separate instance of the installer ran. I completed installation, but I couldn’t run anything in the suite. I was pretty sure I cleaned everything up prior to installation. I checked again, even removed the old Nokia suite. Every time I reboot I kept getting “FAILED TO LOAD RESOURCE”.
No phone line, no GSM modem, I was pretty much in an internet drought at home. I called my phone company for support, but given that it was the Labor Day holiday, I wasn’t expecting the phone line to be fixed within the day. I didn’t really feel like playing my non-online games. I was planning on checking something outdoors around dinnerish after setting this thing-up. After uninstalling and re-installing several times, checking for registry errors or incomplete un-installations, I still couldn’t get it to work. It pissed me off so much that I forgoe’d dinner Plan1 and Plan2 and just went with the day’s uninviting Plan3 (quick take-out at the nearest fastfood).
This morning, I found that several people had similar problems, hopefully the solution they have on that thread would work.
More importantly, I hope my phone line gets fixed! (I tried calling and my home number and it still doesn’t ring)

In my trip to California last July, my cousins and I went to Hooters for lunch. Although it ain’t obvious from the pictures, the food there is actually pretty good. I particularly liked the buffalo wings.
Of course, there were other perks.
Greetings from Sacramento!
After my cousin’s wedding in San Francisco, I went with my other cousin to Sacramento. So far, I’ve really enjoyed my stay here in spite of the lack of sleep (perhaps the jacuzzi at the hotel helped).
Today, I’m looking forward to the food places we’re gonna try out in the area and at Napa Valley. Then we go back to San Francisco in preparation to the trip back to LA tomorrow.
I spent the night in Elk Grove, and I found it a bit strange to be right beside a huge plot of grass. Apparently, there’s a lot of housing projects going on here, and there seems to be still quite a bit of land to be developed. I guess I’m just not used to large expanses of plains so near a city.

Its about an hour before the eve of July 4, 2007. This is the longest friggin flight I’ve ever taken, and I’m only learning now what real jetlag is like.
I’m currently staying at a relative’s place in Glendale, and the place is a lot bigger than what I’m used to.
Other than that, I’m not very perceptive of things yet because of the trip. So, I’ll rest for the meantime.

Last Week In Australia
Given that I’m making use of my time in Melbourne, Australia wisely, and that the only ocmputer I can manage to use is a dial-up, I’m not going to try and write too much about this trip on the fly. Instead, I’m going to be making some summary posts about the whole trip when I get back.
I will mention a brief on some significant stuff in the past week:
- the weather in Melboune is so erratic
- the Crown Casino is just a part of a huge entertainment complex by Crown
- the people of Melbourne are very diverse
- Koko Black serves amazing hot coco
- I found some places where you can get geek/gamer items in Melbourne
- the Victoria Market is huge
Regarding events that I wasn’t able to cover back home:
- Philippine elections - but they’ll probably still be counting even after I arrive
- release of Magic: The Gathering’s “Future Sight” block
- Shrek 3 - I’ll be lucky if this will still be in theatres when I get back, mainly due to…
- Pirates of the Caribbean: At Word’s End - this one might be still around when I get back, but it might prevent me from watching Shreck 3
and most importantly…
… the official announcement of “Starcraft II“! XD ZOMFG!!!
Oh, Starcraft II, so much is expected from you…!
