Missin’ Tokyo

As I was walking home from church, after I got away from the bustle of the malls and commercial areas, the quiet and setting seemed to remind me of Tokyo.  My SO was away, we wouldn’t be meeting tonight, and I just wasn’t in the mood for anything with heavy flavors.  I decided to indulge my current mood by going to Little Tokyo.

Given my mood, I felt that a simple bowl of tendon would be just right.  Walking in the Little Tokyo compound (beside Makati Cinema Square), I felt a surge of nostalgia.  The scents, the look, and even the crowd (practically all the customers I ran into were 日本人 (Japanese).

I selected one which had tendon in their menu.  The interior made me feel very much “at home” (when I’m in Japan).  It wasn’t fancy, but it was Japanese non-fancy, like one of the everyday places I occasionally eat dinner when I’m in Tokyo.  They were showing NBA on the TV, which was a feed from BS1.  It’s kinda funny to hear NBA in 日本語 (Nihongo) when you’re in the Philippines.

I had a good, quiet dinner by my lonesome, just like in Japan.  If I get into that kind of mood again, I’ll probably go back there.

When I got home, Animax was showing Le Chevalier D’Eon.  I’m typically not fond of old European period pieces, but I caught a glimpse of a sword fight, and it was amazing!  I’ll probably try and see more of this show just for that.

Someday, I’ll go back to Tokyo.
