Firefly
I just watched the pilot episode of Firefly, the famous, short-lived sci-fi TV series. I’ve been wanting to see it for ages, but never got around to it. Now, given the kick that EVE Online gave me, I’m feeding myself a sci-fi phase. I read Ender’s Game, I’m halfway through the original Foundation trilogy (both of these in just around 2 weeks, which, given the time I spend on other things, is extremely fast), so I thought this was the best time to see Firefly (not to mention that Tranquility is down outside it’s scheduled downtime. CCP, I hope it was an emergency that warranted the measly 4 minute warning!!!).
I can see why it has a cult following, the pilot episode really hooked me in. I haven’t seen the other episodes yet, but if they’re anything similar to the pilot, I’m going to enjoy it a lot. I remember growing into Farscape thanks to an old co-worker (and thankfully, they’re continuing the series), so I’m glad that Firefly might fulfill my need for a sci-fi fix.

I was considering going near Glorietta 2 today to get some catfood, but decided against it. Partially because I have enough supply ’till next week, and partially because I relocated my base of operations to a new star system (in EVE Online) and wanted to test my ISK making options.
By now, almost all Filipinos should have heard of what happened to that area around after-lunch today.
The footage I saw on TV were pretty bad, but it could’ve been much worse had it have been a different area of the mall, or if it happened just a few hours later.
Still, seeing the corridors which I pass almost 3 times a week in such chaos and disarray makes me shudder.
Today was a very dark day.
