Transformers: The Movie (2007)
It’s 01:18, I just got home from watching the 2.5 hr robot-fest that is Transformers.
Simply put, it might very well be the greatest movie of the year!
I haven’t watched anything that put me at a loss for words in a very long time. I haven’t enjoyed a movie this much since 300. The movie is just so satisfying in so many levels that it has surpassed the fulfillment I had in 300.
Now that I got that out of the way (for now), I’ll mention that the story was average. But if you think about it, I really can’t imagine how you can make talking robots from outer space that turn into cars and other vehicles any more plausible than how this movie did it.
Effects? I’m simply speechless.
I’m sure I’ll find flaws in the movie eventually, but this does not change the fact that I loved this movie so much that I am actually considering watching it again in the big screen (a very rare thing for me).
A MUST WATCH!!!

I’ll be having another vacation outside the country starting this Monday (July 2). This time, I’ll be going to California, USA. My cousin is getting married, so my family and I will be there. Of course, we might as well take in the sights while we’re there.
Given the short amount of time I have before I leave, I’ve been squeezing in a lot of game time. Aside from going out with my SO, most of my time is spent on Warcraft III, Xplorers (aka: Settlers of Catan), and Triplejack.
Of course, my SO and some friends are already scheduled to watch Transformers tomorrow night. Needless to say, we’ve all very excited. I just hope Micheal Bay doesn’t screw this up. I’m in it for the effects, so as long as the movie doesn’t suck, I’ll be happy.

I only just managed to take a look at the Starcraft II movies available at the official website. I didn’t want to over-excite myself, they’re just alpha videos. After watching the videos, though, I’m going to have a very difficult time not over-exciting myself for the actual game because the alpha videos they showed were already absolutely amazing!
Tags: StarcraftWordpress Migration Story: Link Preservation/Emulation
One of the issues that came-up in my migration to WordPress is the change in permalinks. The permalink system is different from that of Blogger, and the change caused all the existing links from Google Search to fail. Since most of my hits come from organic search results (like that of Google and Yahoo),I’m gonna have a few days of nothing until the search engines get updated with my new structure.
Fortunately, WordPress supports customization of the permalink structure. I had to setup WordPress with the same style of permalinks from Blogger (<url>/yyyy/mm/<post name>.html), which allowed some of my simpler posts to easily stay intact.
This is not enough, though. WordPress and Blogger’s post name to URI conversion system also uses different algorithms, some of your posts might have different permalink URIs. Fortunately, you can control this to a certain degree by editing the “Post Slug” of each individual post to match that of the original name. I’m pretty sure WordPress can do this automatically during import, but I guess it’s not a high priority feature for now. Regardless, WordPress allowed me to do so manually.
Given this flexibility, I was able to revert my posts which generates the most number of hits to match that of the current Google results. The Google results from the tags/categories and archives still don’t work (and those are probably tougher to emulate), but at least I was able to preserve some of the pages.

Regular visitors might notice that I haven’t been posting much lately since I came back from Australia. Aside from being busy with errands, I’ve been working on this migration. Phase 1 is done, which is basically getting my old posts to work with WordPress, my domain, and my current webhost.
Since you can now actually read this, things generally migrated well. I still have to fix some links and cross-references that got screwed-up in migration, as well as to slowly get the images back on track (apparently, only the image source links were updated, the images themselves were not imported). Some of the search results from Google won’t work anymore because of the change in the link system. Hopefully, the Google spider will reflect my new setup soon.
Regardless, I think the migration went well. Hopefully, I won’t get stuck trying to fix the loose ends.
